Was thinking today about some Christmas memories when I was a child. Unfortunately My Mom @ Dad were not married all my childhood life. However they remained friends and they have helped me to create some great memories growing up.. One time my Dad (owned a construction company) He rained a crew out on a construction site and then LOW and behold his whole crerw showed up at my house when I was little and built me (IN ONE DAY ) a HUGE play house with windows and a little porch.. I remember staring at them working in the RAIN.. My dad never stopped .
On to CHRISTMAS........... One Christmas eve ...(it was late) and my dad came running in wake up wake up I think I saw Santa and his SLEIGH down the street !!! I put on my slippers and I remember seeing my mom on this OLIVE couch (WHY I remember that I dont know) I said lets take MAMMA and my dad said NO let her sleep .. WE were off to an adventure... We drove up and down every single street. HE pulled over to this yard and said I think I see Reindeer Tracks in this yard get out lets take a look!!! ( I just remember my heart beating so LOUD) I felt that tracks (and was so excited.) He said We better get home .. I think he is on his way to our house !!! OMGOSH I was so excited that I could hardly stand it ... We got home and BAM !!!!! My mom slept thru the whole thing.. I woke her up and said YOU didnt see Santa he was here HE was here .. I had a pink gown on (funny what you remember) .... She was brite eyed and said NO ..........I cant believe I missed him.. She said LOOK he ate the cookies .............I ran over and checked it out... THINKING HE ATE MY COOKIES ..............WOW... There were teddy bears and a fake piano.. I started pounding and making music and couldnt remember what I would play first . I loved everything. I was so HAPPY they were Happy .. TO THIS DAY I remember their faces that DAY .. (MY dad couldnt ever wait till Christmas Morning ... ) .........Hands down my favorite Christmas as a little girl ...
What was your favorite Christmas memory ................. Thanks for blogging with me !!!!!!! Hey just one more thing you know about me ................... Below is me and my dad
This was the age I was... My dad (in this picture) Took me to Disney In California.. I remember taking this picture and we had to DRY it (basically develope it ourself) I dont know why I remember that . But at the HOTEL we hung it up to dry. My family since has copies of this picture. .. But Disney was a special gift from my dad.......................................

ReplyDeleteI remember one year my Dad had to go and fix a tourist bus (he was a mechanic) on Christmas Day and we had to wait until he had finished, came home for lunch and then open our presents- it was the longest time for a 10 year old, but Santa had bought me a new bike so I got to ride up to the motel and pester him on how long he was going to be!
Deanne.. I can picture that..Isnt that special. Now that your an adult and know about life you see that your Dad was being so awesome working on that day to provide for yall. You know he prob did not want to work on something on Chritsmas day but the sacrifice he did for his family .Awesome .. Love this ..Thanks so much for posting. Its so good to share wonderful stories and good stories in a time when our world has tragedy going on .
DeleteSounds beautiful, Sherry. My fondest memory was coming home from midnight mass around 12:30 and walking in the house with my sisters and dad (mom never came). I was tired but happy. My dad turned to me just as we came into the living room to see the tree lit and said "merry Christmas, girls". That's it.....magical Christmas for me. It was just a happy feeling of being safe and secure and loved at home.

DeleteHi Sherry ~~ Precious photo of you and your Dad. Oh, the sweet warm memories of childhood, I too remember "Santa" delivering a play piano to me one year for Christmas, I remember there being a note from "santa" saying it was too big to wrap. The thing I could not figure out was why the handwriting on the note looked like my Mom's handwriting. :)
ReplyDeleteBless you Sherry and may the LIGHT of The LORD shine upon you.
